Extinction In Progress: The wrench and the screwdriver

08/02/14  ||  Cobal

There’s quite a few reasons to dislike this record. Firstly, it’s probably the most generic form of deathcore you’ll ever get to listen to. So, unless you’re a very tolerant fan of the sub-genre, you’ll probably find the constant but insipid switch from deathish short riffs to eternal breakdowns boring. Secondly, the four songs are exactly the fucken same. In fact, after listening to this twice—way too many times if you ask me—I was completely unable to keep focused enough as to recognize the beginning of one track after the other. Lastly, there’s just no songwriting here. It’s all A-B-C with repetition patterns here. Play some audio samples with very profound speeches here and there and you’ve lost me. I know, I’ve probably used that phrasing before too many times in the past.

1/10: Go screw yourselves.
